As new customers and some existing customers might have noticed, we have developed our new bespoke control panel system for Register365. For now it’s called UBER – feel free to suggest some alternative names while we brainstorm internally too!

There is always the argument of ‘build or buy’ in the technology industry – and after much debate 12 months ago, we decided to build. Over the years we have always tried to provide the best products to customers, and so we moved a number of times to enhanced platforms. While new customers get instant benefits from this, an unfortunate side-effect is that we built up legacy systems – which meant as a customer you may have more than one login, and more than one interface, to contend with. The holy-grail for any on-line services company, that provides more than one service on multiple platforms, is to provide an integrated, single-sign-on, user experience.

UBER is this system. For now it provides domain name management, accounts functionality, and login to shared hosting. The roadmap is to integrate the various legacy systems and all our current and future platforms, into this system – so that as a user, you will have a single application to both login to, and learn to use.

We’d love to hear your feedback on the control panel, as well as the strategy we have for it.

    sounds like a great idea!

    when i joined hosting365 in the early days, i actually *liked* the fact that they used 3rd party software that was well-developed and tested… especially because the options available from the runners-up were bespoke, but not much to speak of!

    but now with your experience, i bet you could develop something really nice :)

    Yes we feel we’re long enough in the business at this stage to know exactly what our customers need/want to easily manage their set-up with us. I’ll be keeping this blog up to date with all the latest add-ons to the control panel and as always if you think were missing something let me know and I’ll add it to the to-do list. :)

    I’ve found hosting365’s services and facilities great! I had used a couple of other providers beforehand but they were amateur in comparison to hosting365.

    I think the new system is more streamlined, and I like the fact that both domain regs and hosting will eventually be managed centrally by the user.

    To gain even more value from hosting365, when do you think I will be able to upgrade my Basic Unix 2006 Plan to a Business Hosting – Unix.

    I have to say a very big thank you for the UBER CP! The Mikado Society here in NUI Maynooth is constantly changing hands (at least once a year) and up until now, several logins was proving difficult to keep track of.

    With UBER this is no longer a problem, most of our details are accessible via the control panel and no doubt soon our legacy DNS Plan will be integrated with the software.

    Yes we hope to eventually have all plans and systems integrated into Uber making life alot easier for our customers.
