Hi all,

You will all by now have received an email about the sale of register365 to Namesco. Let me take a few moments to elaborate on exactly what it will mean for you as a customer.

On Wednesday, the Domain Registration and Shared hosting division of Hosting365 – Register365 – was sold to Namesco Ireland. Namesco are one of the leading domain and hosting providers in the UK.

The decision to sell Register365 did not come about lightly, and was fundamentally based on the challenges we faced as a business, trying to cater to two extreme ends of the hosted services market. Through this deal, customers benefit from 100% focus and attention to domain registration and shared hosting services from the new Register365 team, as well as improved support options and significantly broader resources.

Hosting365.com will also focus exclusively on providing managed hosting services to companies with more complex requirements and online business at www.hosting365.com.

So, what changes?

- All services will remain as-is, on the same servers, same IP addresses in the same location (the Hosting365 data centre in Park West, Dublin). Nothing is being relocated or moved in any way. Register365 will continue in business as normal.

- Customers do not need to make any modifications or changes in any way – everything will still work exactly as before.

- Payments and billing will also remain as they are; your online payments will work in the same way, and you can continue sending cheques by mail to the same address.

Support Options

- Since Wednesday afternoon – Technical Support and Customer Care are available from 8am-8pm Mon-Fri and Technical Support is also available Sat-Sun 10am-6pm. Simply dial 1890 944 500

- Live Chat and Email options are also still available, with no changes to addresses.

- Support is available by all of the above options Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Technical Support also 10am to 6pm weekends.

It was extremely important, to me personally as well as the whole 365 team, that the match we found for Register365 could maintain the same levels of care, innovation and leadership we have done since inception back in 2001. These characteristics and capabilities we found in abundance with Namesco and I am thrilled that they are taking over Register365.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the people who made Register365 the leader it became. The staff who, through the years, have helped build the systems, the infrastructure and help the growing customer base, and, most importantly, you, the customer.

Through delivering you a good service at a good price you referred your friends, your family and your colleagues and drove Register365 to grow at rates way in excess of the norm for the market.

Thank you.

The application allows users to look up and register internet domain names, all within the iPhone interface.

From your phone, surf to http://iphone.register365.com

Commenting on the launch, Ed Byrne, General Manager, Hosting365 said, “Our application will allow our customers to register an Internet domain name right from the palm of their hand. Obviously the launch of the iPhone is one of the most anticipated events of 2008 in Ireland and as our customers are often early adopters when it comes to technology, we developed this application to tap into the enthusiasm around its release,”

“With proliferation of the Internet soaring, and the huge growth of mobile Internet devices, we wanted to offer our customers an easy way to register domain names while away from their desktop. This is just the tip of the iceberg for us in terms of mobile applications, we intend to make all our systems available to mobile users,” Byrne added.

iPhone applications are functions that have been developed specifically for use on the mobile phone. Other applications developed for the iPhone for US audiences include a YouTube player, which enables users to watch clips from the video sharing website; 101 Cookbooks, an archive of food recipes for consumers looking for culinary ideas while on foot; and Gas, which allows users to check petrol prices in their vicinity.

As you might be aware, we have been working hard over the past year to improve the quality and responsiveness of our customer care.

This time last year we introduced a 24×7 team, dedicated to catering for our customers’ every need.

In August 2007 we launched a new web site at www.register365.com, which delivered an industry leading range of web hosting and domain name registration services. Register365 became the cost and feature leader of the Irish market.

Incorporated with our new site, we launched a new support system at http://care.register365.com, Building on over seven years of experience in this area, the site includes our new ticketing system, for easily tracking support issues, a library of video tutorials, an extensive, searchable knowledge base, a wide range of downloads and tools and our new forums (directly accessible at http://forum.register365.com). We also revamped the customer control panels to provide a simpler, more straight forward experience.

At the same time, we started providing 24/7 support through Live Chat – available on every page of the website and control panels simply by clicking the ‘Chat’ buttons. This system links you at any time of the day or night, 7 days a week, directly with the care team.

Over the years, we’ve provided freephone telephone support during office hours. In that time we’ve learned through experience and feedback that telephone support is inefficient, expensive and not as effective as email or live chat at delivering problem resolution.

In order to continue offer the most efficient and timely customer support, 24/7, we are discontinuing telephone support from Tuesday 18th March 2008. After this date it will be no longer possible to call 1800 365965.

Here are the standard support channels available to you – all 24/7/365.

- Live Chat – Click Chat on any webpage at http://www.register365.com
- Tickets – http://care.register365.com
- Email – support@register365.com

Premium Support is available as an option during office hours – Monday to Friday 0900-1730 GMT – by calling us on 1550 365 965. [ Please note that calls are charged at 95c per minute ]

Kind regards,
Register365 Team

As part of our ongoing programme to improve the service we provide, we will be upgrading all three of our name servers ns1.hosting365.ie, ns2.hosting365.ie, and ns3.hosting365.ie. Two of the servers will be moving out of country to independent networks in London (ns2) and Amsterdam (ns3), both at the heart of European internet infrastructure. ns1 is being replaced with a new machine dedicated to authoritative DNS service. As a result of this move, the IP addresses associated with these machines will be changing:

NS1 currently 82.195.128.132 will change to 82.195.143.132
Upgrade commences. The new name servers are promoted to the authoritative name servers within H-Sphere. This process should take no more than 1 hour and there should be no visible downtime for customer domains though the Control Panel will be unavailable for a short period during this window. You should update your glue records through your registrar at this point.
When the upgrade is complete, the original name servers will remain in place and answering as authoritative servers for your domains however they will no longer be linked to H-Sphere and any updates made through the Control Panel – either record changes or new domain additions will not be reflected on these servers. New domains added to the system may not be recognised for up to 48 hours due to DNS propagation on the glue records – some users may be referencing the old name servers rather than the new.

Wednesday February 27th 12:00 noon

As the records in the old name servers grow stale, it becomes important to remove the domains from these servers. One week after the migration, the authoritative domains will be removed from the old
servers on 82.195.128.132, 82.195.128.192, and 82.195.146.192 and they will refuse any DNS queries sent to them from outside Hosting365. They will continue to operate as caching recursive name servers, serving only machines within the Hosting365 Data Centre.

Second of all INEX routes Irish traffic to Irish sites all within it’s network – which means latency is really really low – therefore giving the fastest possible download of your site, higher quality VOIP calls and better for on-line gaming too – so increasing capacity is a good thing. Finally, it means in the event of a disaster, our multiple links being this fast allows us fail-over all traffic without any service degradation to the customer.

30th January – register365 has announced a price drop on .ie domains in response to the IE Domain Registry’s announcement to reduce its charges by 5.8%. register365 has dropped its price on .ie domains from €25.95 to €21.95.

Commenting on the price drop, Stephen McCarron, Managing Director, register365, said “We welcome the IEDR price drop as they have been investing in their own system automation, and releasing this to resellers through an API. We have been using this API since day one and it saves us a huge amount of manual labour. Previously every domain registration needed to be handled and submitted manually. We have a policy of passing savings on to our customers, and we are the price leader in Ireland for domains and hosting.”
